Over the weekend we made a trip to Dallas to see my mother-in-law, Gayle, and my brother-in-law, Zack, graduate from the Perkins school of theology at SMU.
Gayle graduated with her doctorate in ministry and Zack with his masters in divinity. Zack still has a few steps before becoming a full blown reverend, but Gayle’s title is now Reverend Doctor. And yes, she’s already made use of the phrase, “Trust me, I’m a doctor.”
They both graduated in the same ceremony, which made it even more special because that was the first time a mother and son graduated in the same ceremony in the same college at SMU. Of course, I played my role as family photographer to document the day. I have a lot of candid shots from before and after the ceremony and the reception, but we took a few minutes on campus to do a quick portrait shoot and that’s what these photos are from.
I let them choose a shady spot out of the way of the graduation traffic and held my speed light off to my left. Here are a couple of out takes from our quick 5 minute shoot.
It was a good day and Zack and Gayle definitely deserve lots of congratulations!
