Texas State senior volunteer Chris Jones (left) carries a mini refrigerator down to the first floor of Laurel Hall on Thursday for Tim Whisenant (right) of Kyle. Whisenant and his family helped his son Carl move in to the residence hall for the first time.
A big part of working in San Marcos is covering Texas State University. Every August students flood the city and some arrive for the very first time.
I shot this on move-in day at the university. They have dozens of volunteers at every residence hall who help carry items, hold doors open and welcome new students.
At Laurel Hall, there were two guys helping with the large items and I decided to follow them. I followed this guy from the parking lot, through the front door, down a flight of stairs, down a hall, down another flight of stairs, down another hall and finally to a room. I almost turned around when I got to the second flight of stairs, but then the hallway opened up to this semi-circle staircase with a hand made first floor sign. I only shot 2 or 3 frames very quickly, but I was so happy with the result.
