I’ve worn many hats in the past few weeks while starting exciting new projects, trying to keep up with freelancing and, of course, football season.
It’s week 4 (or is it 3?) of high school football season and I’ve shot five games so far, with the sixth later tonight. I’ve already blogged about two of them, but I’ll take this opportunity to catch you up on some of my favorite images.
Let’s start with last night and work backwards. Last night I was at Nelson Field for the LBJ v. New Braunfels Canyon game for the New Braunfels Herald-Zeitung. Click here to read the game story.
Canyon won 20-0, but I could only shoot the first half before I had to edit and transmit. The score at the half was 7-0. A score like that means the game was heavily weighted on defense, which doesn’t always make for the most exciting pictures. Here are a few of my favorites.
Last Friday I was in Manor for the Austin American-Statesman to shoot the Manor v. Leander game.
Final score was 32-27, Manor. That was a great game to watch – lots of competition, lots of great photo-worthy action. The stadium lighting wasn’t terrible either. Click here to read the game story and see more photos.
On Fri., Sept. 6, I was at Hendrickson High School in Pflugerville for their match-up against Leander for the Austin American-Statesman. Click here to read the game story and see more photos.
That was a blow out. I mean a complete, 52-0, it almost doesn’t even look like a fair fight blow out. Hendrickson won easily over Leander, who was supposed to be the better team. Hendrickson running back Samje Perine was the star of the show. After half time I came up to the press box and the reporters were talking stats. Hendrickson had 330 offensive yards. Leander had -22. Yeah, there was no need to shoot the second half.
Now you’re caught up on my high school football hijinx! At least until later tonight.
Have a great weekend everyone!
