Last month I went to Cardinal Frame & Art in San Marcos for Community Impact News.
The owners, Vicky and Hugh Simmons, have been in the custom framing business for 37 years. There’s a certain degree of respect that should be owed to anyone who works in any vocation for that long.
They’re a great couple who keeps their sense of humor while working. They’ve framed everything from artwork worth hundreds of thousands of dollars to a cow patty for a local feed lot owner.
They met on a blind date and have been married for 45 years. Vicky helps customers to choose frames and mats and Hugh does the order assembly. They keep things simple. They don’t have sales, just the occasional 10% off coupon to loyal customers.
“We like to say our prices are as low as we can live with,” Hugh said. “And our quality is always better than big-chain framing stores.”
It was nice to be in a place like that. Simple quality.
Anyway, here are a few shots of the Simmons’ in their store.
