A Junior Brahma reaches for the football during the Junior Super Bowl at Bobcat Stadium. The Junior Ravens beat the Brahmas and went home with the championship.
In November I shot the CFPO-PAL (Christian Federation of Police Officers-Police Athletic League) championship games at Bobcat Stadium. I shot the games all season, but the bowl games were the most exciting. Six games were played back to back for a 10 hour day of shooting for me, but it was a lot of fun.
All season I was impressed with the CFPO-PAL organization. They allow children to play football, basketball, volleyball, tennis and cheerleading nearly for free by providing equipment, facilities, insurance and awards.
The genius behind the organization is that it’s run by police officers, so while the kids are playing sports and having fun, they’re also getting to know local law enforcement. Their mission statement goes like this: “The Mission of the CFPO-PAL is to prevent juvenile crime and violence by providing a safe environment for civic, athletic, recreational and educational opportunities, for youth overseen by Police Officers.”
It really keeps local kids from “dropping the ball.”
