I photographed the Hays County Youth Livestock Show on Thursday. It was the first day of showing the animals, which meant lots of goats, rabbits, sheep, kids and teenagers all under one large dust-covered roof.
I enjoy shooting this event every year. It’s fascinating to me because I grew up in a place where 4H didn’t exist. Here in Hays County, it’s huge! These kids raise multiple animals every year, but the kids I grew up with had to fight to get a dog or a cat. It’s impressive to see these kids and teenagers handle that much responsibility.
