Canoes and kayaks make their way through the Palmetto State Park check-point as darkness falls on night one of the 2012 Texas Water Safari on June 9, 2012. Considered one of the most difficult races in the world, the 260-mile boat race starts at Aquarena Springs in San Marcos, TX, follows the San Marcos River, the Guadalupe River and ends on the coast of the Gulf of Mexico in Seadrift, TX.
