Whew! Between the holidays and football playoffs and my travel project (24inTX) and the regular freelance life, my world’s been turning a mile a minute for the past few months.
The weekend before Thanksgiving I was up in Garland for 1st Photo Texas, shooting the UIL state volleyball championships for UIL.
It was 15 high school volleyball games in three days. I usually shoot RAW for everything, but when I shoot for UIL, I shoot jpg images. It’s mostly because of the amount of photos that I take in a short time period, and also because UIL doesn’t require that the images be super high-res.
I used my two Nikon D700 bodies and switched between my 200-400mm f4, my 70-200mm f2.8 and my 24-70mm f2.8 lenses. The whole tournament went fairly smoothly, without many complications.
Anyway, here are a few of my favorite shots from the tournament.
The next UIL state championship tournament is football later this month at Cowboys Stadium.
I hope everyone had a happy Thanksgiving!
