This week former UT quarterback Vince Young signed a one-year contract with the Greenbay Packers. That reminded me of a day I spent in May with the football star and his family.
UT gave me the opportunity to document Young’s day as he received his diploma.
It was a full day of activities, starting with a morning work-out in the UT athletics weight room.
Next stop, after a shower, was to stop in and say hello to head coach Mack Brown. The mood was sentimental and celebratory as Brown offered his congratulations.
A quick interview in the hallway…
And off to meet his family before the formal graduation ceremony. (See photo at top of post.)
Young had a special seat on stage during the ceremony, which made him a bit difficult to photograph…
But it finally came time for him to graduate. Young earned a bachelor’s degree in Applied Learning and Development: Youth and Community Studies.
Afterwards Young met his family for a group photo in the hallway…
And proceeded to a celebration at the alumni center.
At that point I left the Young family. I had followed Vince around campus for about 6 hours and it was time for me to find some food and a place to edit.
I’m happy to say that Vince and his family were very nice and gracious about the attention he received. I wish all of them good luck in the upcoming football season!
