Kabongo’s back and so am I

Hi everybody!  It’s been a crazy couple weeks.  I spent a few days in New Mexico with family, bookmarked by two short trips to Dallas.  Then, when I returned, I had more work than I could handle, but now I’m back to blogging!

I’ll tell you more about my travels later when the photos are edited and ready for showing, but first, here’s some work from this week.

I was assigned by the Statesman to cover the UT v. Iowa State basketball game on Wed. night at the Frank Erwin Center.

So far, UT has had a rough season.  Texas point guard Myck Kabongo (12) had been out for 23 games due to some rule breaking and improper benefit taking.  His return proved to be what the Longhorns needed to get a W on the board.

Kabongo seemed to have learned his lesson, taken his punishment, and returned with humility and determination.  He was definitely the story on Wed. night, but he didn’t take questions after the game.  “It’s not about me,” he said briefly in a post-game press conference.

My assignment was to focus on Kabongo and get some other game action.  There was plenty of it.  The game went in to double overtime and UT squeaked by with an 89-86 victory.  Double overtime isn’t what you want on a Wed. night if you’re trying to make deadline, but if you’re a fan, you know it was a great game!

Here are some of my images:
