6 Days, 36 Games

Recently I shot the UIL state boys and girls basketball championships for 1st Photo Texas and UIL.

I spent three days shooting girls and three days shooting boys.  That’s six days inside the Frank Erwin Center in Austin, and 20,000-30,000 clicks of the shutter.  By the end of it, I felt a lot like the face the girl is making in the photo at the top of this post.

I’m not really even sure what to say about my experiences, except that it was a whole lot of basketball in a short amount of time.

Let’s start get to the pictures.  We’ll start with the girls.  Here are some of my favorites.

The girls played first, then the boys.  The boys jumped higher, ran faster and were more emotional than the girls.  Here are a few shots from those games.

While I was there I had a couple of celebrity sightings.  I met NBA Hall of Famer David Lattin, UT quarterback Colt McCoy and Governor Rick Perry.  Lattin came with his high school team that won a state title in 1962.  McCoy and Perry just came to watch.  Here they are.

It was a marathon, but all in all, it wasn’t bad.  Next up on the UIL calendar – soccer.
